I had a girl who was crazy for Strawberry Shortcake, so here are her 4th Birthday Party Plans!
Above is the cake. I had fun with this one. I wanted the look of a crisp fondant style cake, BUT I wanted it to be yummy and enjoyable for 4 year olds. So I came up with my own version. I baked 3 layers of cakes. I did this by baking cakes in pyrex dishes that were varying sizes. Then I frosted the bottom two layers white and the top pink. I found the cake topper at the party story.

The candies are:
Bottom Layer: Green mint balls (often found near wedding supplies). I used a frosting tip to make the pink swirls. The strawberries are fruit rollups cut into the shape of strawberries and the leaves on the strawberries are from a leaf frosting tip.
Middle Layer: Red mint balls along the bottom. (I found these at Christmas time in a red and green assortment, although I'm sure you could find them other times of year as well.) Sour Straws alternate between red and green. I had to cut these down to size since sour straws are normally a lot longer. The strawberries are the same as the bottom layer.
Top Layer: Pink mint balls along the bottom. I cut circles out of red fruit roll-ups to make the polka-dots.
Party Activities
1.
When
the kids arrived, they colored Strawberry Shortcake pages that I printed off the internet. There are so many to choose from, but here are some examples.
2.
Dancing
to Strawberry Shortcake music (I bought the Strawberry Shortcake: Music for Dress Up Days
CD as a birthday present for my daughter, but you can usually find it at the library for free as well!). They kept balloons in the air with Strawberry Shortcake
plates taped to paint sticks and also did freeze dancing.
3.
Strawberry
Shortcake Bingo with all the characters.
4.
Pin the
strawberry on the hat.
5.
Strawberry,
Strawberry Shortcake (like duck, duck, goose).
6.
Lunch –
We had food to go along with the characters...
Strawberries
(Strawberry Shortcake), Apples ( Apple Dumpling), Oranges (Orange blossom),
Blueberry Muffins (Blueberry Muffin), Raspberry Sandwiches (Raspberry Torte),
cake (Angel Cake), and Ice Cream.
7.
Present Time
8.
Pinata
with Party Gift Bags that came out when it broke open. In the party bags, we
gave them a strawberry shortcake mini puzzle, sunglasses, and hair
elastic. They also had a heart sucker
and candy watch.
